Hello!

Today we will pronounce words with the "short u" sound.  All the words today rhyme.  Let's start.

Listen to the following words and sentences:

Bunk.

The kids sleep on bunk beds.

Dunk.

I like to dunk my cookies in milk.

Hunk.

Could you cut me a hunk of bread?

Junk.

There's nothing but junk in the basement.

Sunk.

Too bad his boat has sunk.

Chunk.

He carved that bowl out of a chunk of wood.

Drunk.

Don't listen to him...he's drunk.

Skunk.

My poor dog got sprayed by a skunk.

Slunk.

The cat slunk in undetected.

Spunk.

She is young and full of spunk.

Stunk.

My dog stunk after he got sprayed by the skunk.

Trunk.

The suitcases are in the car's trunk.

Plunk.

Plunk yourself down in the chair and have a cup of tea.

Shrunk.

The apple dried and shrunk in the sun.

It's a long weekend in Canada for the Christian Holiday Easter.  On Easter Sunday, if Canadian kids are good,  they get a visit from the Easter Bunnny.  The Easter Bunny hides chocolate eggs before the kids wake up.  The kids hunt for the chocolate eggs and put them in their Easter Basket.  Birds lay eggs in the spring, so why not a bunny???

Anyway, today's English practice is the vowel sound "oi" like "toil" and "Troy".  Enjoy!

Spring Break is over so it's back to work...and SpeakEnglish is back on line!
